Usage Guide
Prepare
Ensure that the wood to be treated is clean, dry and free from surface dirt, loose debris and any other contaminants.
Apply
Shake tin well before use and frequently during use. This is important to achieve a uniform colour. Apply 2-3 uniform coats with a brush. Apply the second coat after the first has soaked in. The exact colour may be affected by any previous treatment and is darker on sawn, more absorbent, weathered and dark wood. Try a representative area first, to ensure acceptable appearance when dry. Protect plants during application. Allow treated fences etc. to dry thoroughly before refixing plants. Do not splash on plastic, plaster, paint or masonry. Do not spill on asphalt, bitumen, bitumen felt, tar or mastics. Bitumen, rubber and some plastic based materials may soften or swell in contact with the fluid or solvent vapour.
Dry
The drying time is 2-5 days. Drying times can vary depending on the nature of the surface and the weather conditions.
Clean
Do not use or store in extremes of temperature.
Cleaning After Final Use: Clean brushes immediately after final use to reuse them for future projects, saving you money and reducing waste.
Cleaning Steps:
- Remove Excess Product: Scrape off leftover product into a container for reuse.
- Use Brush Cleaner: Use Polycell Brush Cleaner to clean brushes.
- Reuse Brush Cleaner: Allow the paint solids to settle and reuse the cleaner by pouring the clear liquid into another container.
- Dry Naturally: Let tools air-dry and store in a dry, dust-free area.
Dispose Responsibly: Dispose of the remaining solids and used brush cleaner at a hazardous waste facility. Do not pour any solvent-based paint, brush cleaner or washings down the drain or onto the ground.
Do not flush paint down the drain, including when cleaning painting tools
Aftercare
Cuprinol Shed and Fence Protector can be easily maintained as and when required by applying a fresh coat, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
