How to create a hanging herb garden

Always wanted to grow your own tasty plants but short on space? These hanging planters are the perfect solution.

Step 1

Drill drainage holes in the bottom of the wooden crate and sand off the rough edges to keep your herbs healthy. This will allow the water to drain and stop the wood from rotting.

Step 2

Drill a hole for the rope in each corner and sand smooth.

Step 3

Apply two coats of your favourite Cuprinol Garden Shades colour inside and out, allowing it to dry thoroughly between coats (green herbs look great against <a href="/product/cuprinol-garden-shades/coastal-mist-2.5l">Coastal Mist</a>!).

Step 4

Cut 4 equal lengths of rope (nylon cord is our recommendation) then thread each one through the holes in the corners and tie them on securely.

Step 5

Attach the ropes to a metal hanging ring with a knot.
