Usage guide
Cuprinol Wood Preserver Clear (IP) is a colourless general-purpose preserver for interior or exterior use. It gives deep penetrating protection to sound wood against decay, mould and blue-staining fungi. This low odour formula has been specially developed with low aromatic solvents to make it more pleasant and convenient to use.

Use on wood and joinery such as window frames, doors, etc. before painting, staining or varnishing. Use pre-treated timber if timber is in ground contact.

Small timbers, roof trusses, horticultural timbers: Apply 2 - 3 uniform coats by brush (1 litre per 6 - 7.5 sq. metre) or spray (1 litre per 4 - 6 sq. metre).
Dip end grains for 3 minutes.
Outdoor timbers not in ground contact:
Dip for at least 3 minutes if practical or brush or spray 2-3 uniform coats - Minimum 1 litre per 4 sq.
metres (total).
Rough sawn timber will absorb up to twice as much as planed wood.

Ensure timber is dry and free from bark, dust/dirt and any surface coating including paint, varnish or polish.

Treat all surfaces. Wherever possible dip timber in preserver.
Otherwise apply uniformly, flooding faces, sides, ends and joints with at least
two brush or spray coats. Apply the next coat after the previous coat has soaked
in, but before it's dry. When spraying use a coarse (airless) sprayer and avoid
atomisation (misting). Apply to any surfaces cut after treatment. Note: The
application of this product may cause darkening of some timbers. If colour
is critical try a test area to ensure acceptable appearance. After drying,
glues, fillers, mastics and knotting can be used normally. Ensure wood is fully
dry (allow 6-8 weeks), or use a vapour barrier such as heavy duty polythene
(as used for damp proof membrane), before laying plastic floor coverings, rubber
backed carpets or underlay, hanging vinyl wallpaper or using mastics. Do not
spill on asphalt, bitumen, bitumen felt, tar, plaster, plastics, paint, etc.

Clean equipment with white spirit. Remove as much preserver as possible from brushes before cleaning. For best results use Polycell Brush Cleaner. Do not use or store in extremes of temperature.

Where required, finishes (oil or water based paints and varnishes, outdoor woodstains and polishes, etc.) can be applied normally to treated wood after the preserver has dried (normally 2-5 days for brush, spray or 3 minute dip, but may be longer in cold weather or poor ventilation).
Always read the pack instructions carefully before use.
