Usage guide
Cuprinol Total Decking Treatment is the ultimate
treatment for all kinds of timber decking. Unlike some other decking
treatments, Cuprinol Total contains active ingredients that penetrate
into the timber to prevent rot and decay. Cuprinol Total has an advanced
triple action formulation that works to ensure the decking is totally
protected against the weather and keep it looking at its best for
longer.
Cuprinol Total Decking Treatment is water-based making
it quick drying, pleasant to use and safe for use around
plants and pets. Cuprinol Total Decking Treatment may
be applied by brush or for extra convenience (particularly
on larger areas) can be sprayed on. For accurate, even
spraying use only with the Cuprinol Decking Sprayer
or Cuprinol Power Sprayer.

Cuprinol Total Decking Treatment can be used on all
types of timber decking. It can be used on bare wood,
wood that has been previously pressure-treated or wood
that has been previously treated with a wood preservative
(providing it has been allowed to weather).
Use pre-treated timber if timber is in ground contact -
most timber sold specifically for decking will be
pressure treated to prevent decay..

A 2.5L tin is normally sufficient for:
Decking (brush or spray application): 15m²
Coverage quoted with 2 coats, however a third coat
may be necessary to achieve a uniform colour and to
give added protection to horizontal surfaces. Coverage
may be less on absorbent wood and will be lower on
grooved decking.

Ensure wood is clean, dry and free from any type
of surface coating including paint, varnish etc. Scrape
or sand if necessary (avoid the inhalation of dust). Clean
weathered and dirty wood using a stiff brush, detergent
and water. Rinse and allow to dry.

Cuprinol Total Decking Treatment can be brushed or
sprayed using the Cuprinol Decking Sprayer or Cuprinol
Power Sprayer. Shake tin or stir thoroughly before and
during use to ensure colour consistency. To ensure thorough
protection, treat all surfaces (including the undersides) and
apply to any surfaces cut after treatment. Avoid splashing
other surfaces including glass and brickwork.
Brush: Apply a minimum of two even brush coats to
give a uniform finish. Allow the previous coat to soak in
before applying the next. Please note that the type of
wood and any previous treatment will affect colour.
Try a representative test area first to ensure colour is
acceptable when dry.
Spray: Shake pack thoroughly before pouring contents into
the Cuprinol Decking Sprayer or Cuprinol Power Sprayer.
Refer to the Sprayer user guide for full instructions before
every use. Apply 2 even coats to give a uniform finish.
Allow the previous coat to soak in before applying the
next. When spray applying any product a limited amount
of overspray will be created. This can be minimised by
avoiding spraying in windy conditions and by using
cardboard or plastic as a shield. Any overspray should be
cleaned up immediately (whilst still wet) with water and
household detergent.
Do not
apply in temperatures below 5ºC, in damp conditions or if rain is likely before the product
has dried.

Reseal tin after use. Clean up any spills while still wet.
After use remove as much product as possible from
brushes before cleaning with water. Do not store or use
in extreme temperatures and protect from frost.
Always read the pack instructions carefully before use.
