Usage guide

Cuprinol PowerPad Decking Oil gives a lightly tinted finish to nourish and enhance decking timbers and replace oils & resins lost through weathering. Formulated for use with the Cuprinol PowerPad applicator, it easily transforms your decking.

How much is needed

A 1L pack is sufficient for 8.5m² on bare and previously oiled wood. Absorbent and sawn wood will reduce coverage.

Preparing the job

Read the Health, Safety and Environmental Information on pack. Ensure timber used in ground contact has been pretreated or sold specifically for use as decking. Remove excessive dirt and soiling, large areas of algae, lichen, fungi or moss with a scraper or stiff brush suitable for use on grooved decking. Treat the surface with a fungicidal wash or cleaner designed for the job. Only suitable for use on bare or previously oiled decking.

How to apply

Shake the bottle thoroughly before inserting into the Cuprinol PowerPad. Before using, please refer to the user guide supplied with the Cuprinol PowerPad. Final colour will depend upon wood type, previous treatment and the number of coats applied. Do not apply in temperatures below 5C, in damp conditions or if rain is likely before the product has dried. In case of an insufficient flow of fluid, carefully pierce the valve with a toothpick or similarly shaped object but DO NOT remove valve from the bottle.

Drying time

Cuprinol PowerPad Decking Oil will be touch dry in 2-6 hours in good drying conditions. When applying subsequent coats, allow to dry fully before recoating. Avoid heavy wear and tear for a few days after application. Apply 2-3 coats depending on the level of protection required.

Cleaning and storage

Remove as much oil as possible from the Cuprinol PowerPad before cleaning with water. Do not use or store in extremes of temperature or wet conditions.

Cuprinol PowerPad Decking Oil is specially formulated for use with the Cuprinol PowerPad applicator. It penetrates the wood to replace the natural oils and resins lost through weathering and enhances the decking with a lightly tinted finish.
