Cuprinol

Usage guide

Cuprinol Garden Furniture Preserver (IP) is a clear treatment specially formulated for all garden furniture. It penetrates deep into the wood to protect against rot, decay and fungal staining.

Where to use

For use on new, bare or stripped garden furniture and other exterior wood. Suitable for smooth planed, rough sawn and rustic timber. Us pre-treated timber if timber is in ground contact.

How much is needed

A 1 litre tin is normally sufficient for 4 - 7.5m² with 3 coats.

Preparing the surface

Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from algae, mould or bark. Any existing surface coatings including paint, varnish or woodstain should be removed.

How to apply

SHAKE TIN BEFORE USE. Treat all surfaces by applying uniformly with at least 2 liberal brush or spray coats. Apply the next coat after the previous one has soaked in but before fully dry. When spraying use a low pressure coarse (airless) spray and avoid atomisation (misting). Retreat any surfaces cut after treatment. Note that the application of this product may cause darkening of some timbers. If colour is critical, try a test area first.

Drying time

Allow to dry fully (typically 2-5 days) before applying any coatings or using the furniture. Cold weather may prolong drying.

Cleaning and storage

Remove as much preserver as possible from brushes before cleaning. For best results use Polycell Brush Cleaner. Clean up any spills while still wet. Do not use or store in extremes of temperature.

Other information

After treatment, softwood furniture can be coloured and protected with Cuprinol Garden Furniture Finish or Cuprinol Garden Shades. To give extra protection to Hardwood, apply Cuprinol Hardwood Garden Furniture Oil, Cuprinol Hardwood Garden Furniture Protector or Cuprinol Garden Furniture Teak Oil.
