Usage guide
Cuprinol Garden Wood Preserver (DP) works in
three ways to colour and protect rough sawn and smooth planed garden
wood: It penetrates deep into wood to protect against rot, decay
and mould growth. Special colourfast pigments give rich natural shades
that resist fading and bleaching for up to 5 years (smooth planed
wood may require more regular treatment). Water repellent waxes and
resins help prevent rain penetration whilst allowing the wood to
breathe, resisting cracking and flaking.

Ideal for use on planed or rough sawn garden wood such as summerhouses, sheds, greenhouses, fencing, cladding and extensions. Can be used on bare wood or wood previously treated with wood preservative. Not recommended for use on garden furniture or decking. On softwood garden furniture use Cuprinol Garden Furniture Finish or Cuprinol Garden Shades. On hardwood use Cuprinol Garden Furniture Teak Oil or Cuprinol Hardwood Garden Furniture Protector. On decking, use a product from the Cuprinol
Decking Care range. Use pretreated timber if timber is in ground contact.

A 1L tin is normally sufficient for:
Smooth planed bare wood: 6m² with 2 to 3 coats.
Rough sawn wood: 3-4m² with 2 coats. Coverage may be less on absorbent wood.
Redecoration: 12m² with 1 coat.

Ensure wood is clean, dry and free from any type of surface coating including paint, varnish etc. Scrape or sand if necessary. Clean weathered and dirty wood using a stiff brush, detergent and water. Rinse and allow to dry.

STIR VERY WELL before and during use to ensure colour consistency.
Failure to stir adequately may result in non-uniform colour. Apply a minimum
of 2 even brush coats to give a uniform finish. Allow the previous coat to
soak in before applying the next. The type of wood and any previous treatments
will affect final colour. Try a representative test area first to ensure colour
is acceptable when dry. For larger areas such as fencing, use a coarse, non-atomising
spray. The Cuprinol Shed and Fence Preserver Sprayer is ideal for this. To ensure thorough protection, treat all surfaces. Apply to any surfaces cut after treatment. Avoid splashing other surfaces including glass and brickwork. Clean off glass whilst still wet. Treated wood must be allowed to dry thoroughly (allow several weeks) before introducing plants into greenhouses, cold frames, etc or refixing climbing plants.

Clean equipment with white spirit. Remove as much preserver as possible from brushes before cleaning. For best results use Polycell Brush Cleaner. Do not use or store in extremes of temperature. Re-seal tin carefully after use. Clean up spills whilst still wet.
Always read the pack instructions carefully before use.
