Usage guide
Cuprinol Decking Protector (A) gives
superior protection to all types of garden decking. It has a special
triple action formula that protects garden decks in 3 ways. The wax
enriched formula penetrates deep into the wood to increase water
repellency and help prevent cracking and splitting. Secondly, biocides
protect against mould, fungi and green algal growth. Finally, a preservative
gives lasting protection against all types of rot and decay.
The clear formulation provides protection against
the effects of weather, while the natural woodshade colours provide
both decoration and protection.

Cuprinol Decking Protector (A) is suitable for use
on all types of timber decking including boards and tiles. It protects pre-treated
timber from the effects of the weather and preserves the cut ends. It also
provides protection, decoration and preservation for untreated timber used
for decking. Regular application will ensure continued protection. Decking
Protector (A) is
not normally intended to be overcoated with other decorative finishes, however
if required, allow to weather before using a stain or similar finish. Test
for colour acceptance first. Store and use at temperatures above 10°C.
Treatment will take an average of 3 days to dry depending on conditions.

Brush or spray: One litre will treat 3-6 square metres. If dipping, dip for at least 3 minutes.
Note that weathered or rough sawn wood and grooved decking will reduce coverage.

Most timber sold specifically for decking will be pre-treated
with a preservative to prevent decay. In this case, no additional preservative
treatment is required. However, if the timber is cut or drilled, Cuprinol Decking
Protector (A) should be used on the newly exposed surfaces to maintain
protection from decay before construction. All timber should be clean, dry
and free from any previous surface coating. Remove any dirt, mould or algal
growth using Cuprinol
Decking Cleaner and allow to dry.

Shake tin well before and frequently during use. This is important
to achieve a uniform colour. Do not allow the Cuprinol Decking Protector (A)
to form pools in the grooves. This can be avoided by ensuring that the brush
is not overloaded and by not applying excessive pressure during application.
Apply 2 generous coats by brush or spray to all surfaces. Apply the second
coat after the first has soaked in but before fully dry. Make sure that end
grain, cut ends and joints are well treated.

Treatment will take an average of 3 days to dry depending on conditions.

Remove as much preserver as possible from brushes before cleaning. For best results use Polycell Brush Cleaner. Do not use or store in extremes of temperature. Clean any spills while still wet. Reseal can after use.

For maximum protection the special Cuprinol formula has been developed to penetrate 10 x deeper than many other wood treatments.
Always read the pack instructions carefully before use.
