Usage guide

Ducksback is ideal for restoring and enhancing the appearance of sheds and fences and will help to keep them looking good and lasting for years to come.

Where to use

Cuprinol 5 Year Ducksback is formulated for exterior use only on rough sawn wood including fences, sheds, gates, trellis and pergolas. It may be applied to wood that has been previously pressure treated, or treated with creosote provided it has been allowed to weather. Cuprinol 5 Year Ducksback should not be used on smooth or planed wood, decking or garden furniture.

How much is needed

A 5L tub is normally sufficient for: 20m² with 1 coat, or 6 fence panel sides (6' x 5')
Coverage can vary depending on the condition and nature of the surface.

Preparing the job

Surfaces should be dry or slightly damp with no visible signs of surface water, and free from dirt, algae, lichen, fungi or moss.

How to apply

Stir thoroughly before and during use. Cuprinol 5 Year Ducksback is not suitable for spray application. Try a test area first to ensure that colour and adhesion are acceptable. Please note that the colour in the tub may be different to the final shade when dry. Brush on evenly along the grain. Do not apply in temperatures below 5C, in humid conditions or if rain is imminent, within 1 hour.

Drying time

Cuprinol 5 Year Ducksback will be touch dry in 2-4 hours under normal weather conditions. Two coats are recommended to achieve maximum durability or a deeper colour. Ensure first coat is fully dry before applying subsequent coats. Showerproof technology ensures that Cuprinol 5 Year Ducksback resists washing off 1 hour after application, however it will not resist heavy or persistent rainfall until thoroughly dry.

Cleaning and storage

Re-seal tub after use. Clean up any spills while still wet. After use remove as much product as possible from brushes before cleaning with water. Do not store or use in extremes of temperature and protect from frost.
