Cuprinol 5 Year Ducksback Sprayable is specially designed to work with the Cuprinol Sprayers, is quick drying, low odour and safe to use near plants and pets.
Where to use
5 Year Ducksback Sprayable is ideal for use on rough sawn fence panels. It is also suitable for use on other rough sawn garden wood such as sheds and pergolas. It may be applied to wood that has been previously treated, or treated with Creosote provided it has been allowed to weather. 5 Year Ducksback Sprayable is not recommended for use on smooth or planed wood, decking or garden furniture.
How much is needed
This 5L pack covers up to 15m² with one coat or 5 fence panel sides (6' x 5'). Coverage can vary depending on application method and the condition and nature of the surface.
Preparing the job
Read the Health, Safety and Environmental Information opposite. Bare or untreated wood should be pre-treated with an appropriate wood preserver to prevent rot and decay. Surfaces should be dry and free from dirt and algae etc. Remove any algae, lichen, fungi or moss using an appropriate fungicidal wash or cleaner designed for the job.
How to apply
Shake the pack thoroughly before use. Final colour will depend upon wood type, previous treatment and the number of coats applied. Apply using the appropriate Cuprinol sprayer for the product. As with any sprayer it may take a couple of minutes to perfect your technique. Ensure you stand at the correct distance with the nozzle 15-30cm (6"-12") from the wood surface. Begin slowly and increase the pace as you get used to spraying. Take care not to spray too quickly as this may result in an uneven finish. Similarly, spraying too slowly will result in excess product being applied causing runs. Should this happen, simply brush into the wood. Avoid spraying surrounding plants, brickwork, glass, PVCu, etc. overspray can be minimised by avoiding spraying in windy conditions and by sing cardboard or plastic as a shield. Any overspray should be cleaned up immediately (whilst still wet) with water and household detergent. Excessive spillage on plants should be rinsed off immediately before drying. If applying by brush, apply evenly, avoiding splashing surrounding plants, brickwork, glass, PVCu, etc. Do not apply in temperatures below 5C, in damp conditions or if rain is likely before the product has dried. Cover any surfaces nearby to protect from overspray. Where a strong colour change is involved, more coats may be required. Allow 6 hours between coats under normal weather conditions. This product is wax enriched to repel water. Recoat within 2-3 days of previous coat. If a longer period elapses try a test area to ensure product is not repelled. Product performance will be reduced if applied to grey and weathered smooth wood. If using more than one pack it is advisable to mix them together in a larger container or finish in a corner before starting a new pack.
Drying time
Up to 6 hours (showerproof in just 1 hour). Drying times can vary depending on the nature of the surface and the weather conditions.
Cleaning and storage
When finished any unused product can be returned to the pack and stored for future use. It is important to note that before opening the Cuprinol Fence Sprayer it is essential to release the pressure by pulling out the pressure release valve until all the air has escaped. The Cuprinol Power Sprayer can be opened straight away. Both sprayers can then be simply flushed through with water until the water runs clear and stored for future use. Follow full instructions in user guide provided with the Cuprinol Fence Sprayer and Cuprinol Power Sprayer.
