Oriental haven
We could all do with a little more me-time, and what better place to relax than in the comfort of your own garden surrounded by the sounds and scents of nature?
Create a space just for you by transforming your decking area into a relaxing oriental inspired sanctuary.
This garden gives a contemporary new twist on Oriental charm. Firstly, you'll need to make sure your decking is in good nick so give it a clean with Cuprinol Decking Cleaner. If it's looking faded, try staining with Cuprinol Ultra Tough Decking Stain, which will colour, protect and waterproof and now has a new anti slip formulation. Choose a rich, opulent shade such as Hampshire Oak. Alternatively, if you want a lightly tinted finish you could try using one of our new PowerPad Oils that are available in Clear, Natural Oak & Natural Cedar.
A simple pergola helps define the space, and we've added impact by using a dramatic colour combination of Cuprinol Garden Shades in Rich Berry and Black Ash.
Next, think about your accessories. A low wooden table makes an informal setting for relaxed summer drinks, while this beautiful Japanese style screen is both a stunning feature and a great way of shielding yourself from the neighbours or hiding away all of your garden clutter!
Everyone will be impressed with your arty handiwork when they see this screen. It's made from sheets of MDF cut to size and then hinged, and the design, while intricate, is very easy to recreate. All you need is an appropriately oriental styled stencil, the likes of which are readily available in DIY and decorating stores.
Brush Cuprinol Garden Shades in Black Ash all over your screen and then leave to dry. Use masking tape to fix the stencil in place. Using a fine brush and tester pots of Cuprinol Garden Shades in Rich Berry and Pale Jasmine, carefully brush on the colours where you want them. Leave to dry before carefully removing the stencil.
A strong colour and design theme like this works best when you really commit to it, so think about using Rich Berry and Black Ash to update planters, lanterns or other garden objects too. Also consider your plant choice - some bamboos and blossom will really help to add an authentic touch, and make this oriental inspired sanctuary .
