Reducing VOC

Cuprinol is committed to reducing VOCs

  • What exactly are VOCs?

VOC stands for 'Volatile Organic Compound'. Typically these are solvents that will evaporate into the air at room temperature and were traditionally used in paint to help the drying process. VOCs are released from many everyday sources including fuels, cleaning agents, aerosols and even cosmetics. VOCs contribute to air pollution by reacting with exhaust fumes and sunlight to create low level ozone and smog.

When choosing woodcare products use the 'globe' symbols below to help select low level VOC products.

  • The Biocidal Products Directive (BPD)

As part of European Union harmonisation, the regulation of wood preservatives will be governed in the future by European Union regulations. Cuprinol is committed to ensuring that the transition is as smooth as possible and ensuring that the high quality standards that you expect from Cuprinol products are maintained. If you need more details about the Biocidal Products Directive then please contact our advice centre on 08444 817 817.
