About the FSC
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, independent, non-profit, membership organisation that promotes responsible management of the world's forests. It works with stakeholders around the world to set forestry guidelines that include social, environmental and economic criteria. These guidelines are adopted in managed forests worldwide through the process of FSC certification.

Forests are important because:
- they support up to 1.6 billion of the world's poorest people
- they influence the global climate, water regulation and soil
The work of the FSC is vital because demand for forest products, such as timber and paper, continues to grow, and currently 5% per cent of the world's rainforests is lost each decade.
Cuprinol, a brand from AkzoNobel, is delighted to support this activity as a global partner of the FSC.
